Hyundai HX220L “Proves Its Ground” at Local 150 Training Center

Hyundai HX220L “Proves Its Ground” at Local 150 Training Center

May 30, 2019 | Product News

On a cold day in December when the ground was hard and frosty,  Construction Equipment editors visited the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 150 training center in Wilmington, Illinois, to witness an independent operator/instructor and a second-year apprentice evaluate the feature-filled Hyundai HX220L crawler excavator.  Chad Parker, senior product specialist & sales trainer, HCEA, attended the event to assist with the walk around.

The HX220L is a H Series 173-horsepower unit that has replaced the 9A Series. In going to the new series, Hyundai made some key changes, says Chad Parker.

“Hyundai was able to increase cycle times by 13 percent over the previous model and decrease fuel consumption by 10 percent,” Parker says.

Martin Taylor, an operator/instructor with Local 150, tackled the the hard ground with the HX220L and took 8 to 10 inches of dirt right out with no problem at all.

To read the full story on how the HX220L performed digging into hard frosty ground, visit Construction Equipment magazine.
